Awesome 80's doll find...

Thrilled by the odds of finding an amazing doll that I wanted as a kid, and wow what a surprise. I was born in the 80's, so when I was a young girl, among some of the dolls that I wanted, was a peculiar looking doll which was the big thing back then. I used to watch the cartoons on tv, and just loved her. My mom was more of a "Barbie doll" girl herself, so she didn't really considered it. And honestly, when I was a girl, when these dolls came out, you just couldn't find them at stores as they vanished from the shelves. I am talking about "Jem and the Holograms" dolls. One thing though, I felt somehow I wanted them because I loved the cartoon, and my friends had them all. I kept having this debate in my head; "Do I really want them for me, or just because I like the cartoon and everyone else has them?" For sure, they seem not as appealing for me as a girl. To my perception back then, their heads seemed to be quite big and out of proportion, which made my debate: " Am I sure I want these dolls? Why are their heads bigger, I don't like that!" Anyhow, I really didn't fight for the wanting them in time and soon they were out of production. So, my mom decided to buy me stickers, and stamps for a Jem album, and the storybooks from Tom Tierney, who is an amazing artist. I thought that was cool, since my real thing was the drawings and the cartoon itself.

Well, here is where it gets interesting, 27 years later (Oh my gosh, I am old!) I got the opportunity to get myself a 1985 Jem doll. I was just walking around a thrieft shop, just chilling out, and boom! There she was, shoeless, but there she was waiting for me. Horray!

I got a second chance at getting my Fabulous Jem doll. Funny thing is, she didn't look the same way, which confused me. It seemed like her head wasn't as big as I remembered, so I even thought it wasn't the same doll. I did some research and ended up with the conclusion that it was in fact that Same Jem doll. I even discussed with my brother, who also collects toys from our childhood and his words were: "Wasn't her head huge?"
I suppose the perception in kids and in adults is different, and to prove it wasn't just me, there are the words from my brother. As an adult, I see her head slightly bigger, well at least compared to other dolls, and not as big as I remembered. She looks awesome and it makes me so happy to add her to my doll collection. I am only a little sad that she is shoeless, but I am sure one day I'll bump into her shoes. She was an awesome find, and is an amazing doll. I wanted to share this experience with you guys, because sometimes we have opportunities to get something back, or a second chance to do something again. We should take advantages of destiny playing these cards at our tables, and allow it to give us those exciting moments/memories to relive something we'll enjoy.

So I wonder now: How many of you guys had this doll or had a sister that had this doll? Also, how many of you guys wanted this doll and never got the chance to get her? And finally, How many of you also thought as a kid that their heads were just HUGE?

Share if you want, I'd love to hear your opinion on this doll and those of her type, and if you had once an experience like me, share too! I am sure we'd all like to read them.

Have a great day, and HEY...  If you are in it, enjoy Life-as-is!

There's a Hobbit in my tree, in my tree

Today my husband and I decided to go see the movie of "The Hobbit". We are both very excited. When the Lord of the Rings came out as a movie, I got inspired by Tolkien's biography to write a novel that I had in my head and thought to keep there. Though it only took me 1 year to write, and 4 months to edit, it took a while to work on details until I left it a side. The fact that The Hobbit trilogy is going to be happening, has inspired me to finish those details in my novel so that I can work on the sequel. Hopefully the people that have read the first unedited version will love the changes, and those that haven't read the previous version of my novel will be as delighted. Anyways, back to the Hobbit. So I was at the kitchen getting myself a glass of water, and I heard a little munching and a light yawning. I went to the table decorations and what did I find?

Well look for yourselves. There is a Hobbit in my tree, in my tree!!!! Lol. This is for all of the LOTR fans.

I'll tell you about my experience at the movies and what I think about the movie later on. So far I wasn't disappointed with the LOTR trilogy, so we'll see...

2013 Wishlist

So I will be sharing my wishlist for 2013. I will update this post as often as either I get something in my wishlist, or I add something new. I am so excited because somehow I do get things that I add to my wishlists even if they are just vision boards, or in a notebook, or a pdf powerpoint. You guys should try it too, it is fun.

Here are things that I will post as wishlist, and because I believe in the law of attraction and Serendipity, I know I will find or get at some point in my life. The stronger I want, the sooner they will come. I invite you all to try it and do maybe a vision board. Have fun.

Skellita Calaveras from Monster High. One of the most amazing Monster High Dolls that I have seen. I just recently started collecting some of these dolls. I don't really like repeating dolls, so I try to choose the special ones to have. I am Mexican, so Day of the Dead is dear to me. In fact, I married my husband on the 1st of November, just so we were between Holidays, and because they say in our culture, that Between Halloween and Day of the Dead, our beloved ones that have departed this life, come back to visit around those dates. That is why we build altars, for them to come join us and enjoy their favorite meals, candy, and so on. This is why I feel this doll is so special. And plus, she is cool, just look at her. This photo is not mine, I will post one once this doll comes into my collection.

Lalaloopsy Ivory Ice Crystals. Since I was a little girl, blue has been my favorite color. And as a good girl, I like things that are shiny and happy as such this doll is. This is why her, and Suzette La Sweet are in my Wishlist. Also Cookies N' Crumbs dress, because I found her nude (AAH!!! Don't worry, she's wearing a PJ that I found from another doll in the mean time) And I would like to have their pets too.

Mouse, and the Reindeer from Holly Sleighbells who I adopted for Christmas this year. I just love adopting dolls.

I love Historical characters. This is why dolls dressed like historical characters or representing them are so dear and special to me. I have always been terrible at history, unless I see a movie or find it fun to remember the facts. I am a very VERY good student, but though I was an ace in Physics and Algebra, and apparently now in my Medical classes (which is kinda scary), my weakness is History. Therefore, with dolls, toys and movies, including documentaries, I find it much easier to remember. So here are some other dolls I have had in my wishlist for a while, and that I am sharing with all of you.

Madame du Barbie                                                                 Marie Antoinette Barbie

Empress Josephine Barbie                                                         Queen Elizabeth I Barbie

And so far those are the dolls I want. I had a beautiful Armitron Gold Rose watch too, but my Husband gave it to me on our Anniversary, so that's off my list. I guess any other Model Muse Barbie dolls that destiny/Serendipity wants to bring my way to adopt into my collection is more than welcomed and ready to be loved by me and cheered by all the other dolls. (I am very, very happy and extremely excited for this upcoming year. So the world didn't end, I just see a new beginning.) I hope for everyone to see things as beautifully as I try to do.

The best of wishes on these holidays, and much success for this upcoming year 2013. And please do not drink and drive, it's not only your life you are risking. It's all about respect for everyone's life and sake. Be safe and be happy.

XOXO

Law of attraction and Christmas

I have believed that when you really want something, you have to see it coming true to have it really come true. Recently I had nothing to do one day, and decided to watch a movie that talks about the Law of attraction. What reassured me was the amount of people believing in this other than me, so that made me push  those wishlist things harder just as an experiment. It might sound odd, but I love dolls. I don´t have children yet, so having dolls give me a bit of ease until I do have children of my own. So this year, I was totally in love with the Lalaloopsy Ivory Ice Crystals. When I finally saw her in stores, she was $50.00 dollars. WHAT! Yes, I almost passed out. And I did hear other mothers walking there saying how crazy expensive dolls are now at days. It is true, and I honestly think that it is a bit of an abuse, considering that most of the toys are made in China, and the manufacture prices might be not that high. After all, it is the same doll, different colors, and different outfit. Plus I did see some defects on that doll, which makes it even scarier. At least for me as a collector. I have been observing these and other dolls out there that are going off shelves like crazy and scary that they are expensive, plus have defects. To the toy manufacturers, you need to improve your quality control ASAP!

Anyways, talking about what I got. I really wanted this Holiday Lalaloopsy right? Well, I didn´t get her, but I found this one. I think she is the one Holiday Lalaloopsy from last year.

Her name is Holly Sleighbells, and even my husband loved her. It was only $10.00 dollars in a garage sale. I didn´t get to find her pet friend, but that´s ok. I believe that one day  he´ll come to us and they will reunite. Thank you to the people that recycle your toys. Sometimes they end up in houses like mine, where dolls and toys become special treasures. My goal is having a Doll/Toy museum one day, and all of these marvelous dolls will be part of it to give joy not only to me, but to many other people. So maybe, just maybe next year, I can find the Ivory Ice-crystals looking for a new house from a previously loving owner, who wants to give her to a good home and I will be there to receive her with open arms and a warm heart. Has there been anything that you really, really wanted and you found somehow after? Do you like Lalaloopsy dolls? Which is your favorite one? I just think they are so adorable.

Happy holidays everyone, I hope you get something special that you really really wanted!

Saint Nick is so cool!

I guess I was a very good girl this year. Santa is so very cool, he got me the Holiday Barbie for 2012 that I wanted. Not the blond one, not the African American one... The brunette one! Yay!!!

So I really, really wanted this one, because as far as I know, she is the only brunette Holiday Barbie doll. Thank you so much Mattel for creating this amazing beauty. Thank you designers for Barbie for the variation which some of us are so delighted with. And thank you Santa, for bringing me such an amazing and wonderful gift. Law of attraction. I kept on seeing this doll on my Barbie Doll collection and Tadá, owned!

The only thing I didn´t like, sorry but not everything is perfect, was that she doesn´t come with a stand. I was a bit surprised because other cheaper dolls do come with them, and other Holiday Barbies do have them too. Oh well, I guess I would just leave her in the box. I would have to buy a stand if I ever decided to bring her out for display.

Other than that, wow, brunette, and green eyes. Such a beauty as I have mentioned before.
So what did Santa bring you guys for Christmas?

Stars aren't unreachable

Come here, come closer...

Do you see them stars?
Here, I got one for you, and I'd like you to place your index finger over it. Don't be afraid, it won't bite.

Did you notice? You my friend, just touched a star. So as you can see, stars are reachable, they are not untouchable, and this is not only for graphics. Famous people that become stars are normal people under all the glamour. People that like you have hopes and dreams, the only difference is that some of them fight to pursue them, and we just admire them for that. Hey, why don't you look at yourself at the mirror and do the same? You are also a person with hopes and dreams who has the capability to fight for them too. Just try it. Sometimes paths can be a little rough, but they all take you to the same place; Where you are supposed to be!

Applause to all of you guys that are to try. See you on the road to success.

XOXO
